In order to manage pollution impacts caused by industrial processes and presenting a real risk for the environment (soil, water and air), a set of green technologies have been developed to investigate manage and limit potential pollutions. Among these approaches, green innovative remediation methods are technologies that help to enhance cleanup project’s environmental, social, and economic footprints.
In Mediterranean countries pollution impacts on water resources and irrigation face technological and management policies challenges. Solutions offered by green innovative methods could contribute to face these challenges. A combined approach could provide cost effective solutions through novel water and waste treatment technologies integrated to environmental management policies. Associated with the incorporation of sustainability concepts and life-cycle thinking, this approach help to manage social and economic constrains, reduce environmental impacts and control cleanup activity.
We will present some French demonstration projects and their performance evaluation, providing objective information on innovative environmental technologies and their present marketing. We will present a comparison between these methods and conventional methods, their advantages in applications in Mediterranean countries and their economical impacts. A special focus will be made on Bioremediation processes and their application for sewage treatment, hydrocarbon pollution in soil, wastes discharges and applications of Phytoremediation methods.
